Cherry Picking Conditions at Wohlgemuth’s Organic Cherry OrchardAs of May 8, 2008
The cherries are getting bigger and everything looks like there will be a good cherry season here in the Beaumont/Cherry Valley area. As most of you know, the ripening of the cherries is dependent upon sunshine. So far we have not had a lot of sunshine yet this month and this will delay the ripening process. Based on what we see so far this month we do not expect to have ripe cherries before June. However, if those conditions change we will immediately update the website. Please continue to check here for updates as we get closer to cherry picking time. We will update this web site again around May 27th, if not before. In the meantime, we will continue to take good care of the trees. Thanks for checking our website, and we hope to see you when the cherries are ripe. This will likely be sometime in June. However, remember that the maturing of a cherry crop is totally dependent upon many weather variables which we cannot control. God has control of those variables. Please read the home page information called A Few Facts About Cherry Ripening, for an understanding of the variables that will effect the ripening processes.
